Capital Gain- Rate of Taxes

4.2.      RATE OF TAX

Short Term Capital Gains is chargeable to tax at Normal slab rate of Income Tax i.e. 15%

Long-Term Capital Gains is chargeable to tax at a flat rate of 20% after adjustment for cost of inflation called Indexation Benefit.

Long-Term Capital Gain on sale of any listed securities (like shares of company & units of UTI / Equity oriented Mutual Funds) is totally exempted. Short-term Gains on the above is charged at 15%.
