(K) Deduction In The Case Of Permanent Physical Disability (Including Blindness) — Section 80U

A totally blind or physically handicapped or mentally retarded individual is allowed a deduction equal to Rs.50,000 in the computation of total income subject to fulfilling certain conditions. For severe disability the deduction will be Rs.75,000. From the A.Y. 2010-2011, the deduction for a person with severe disability would be ` 1,00,000. Disability certificate should be enclosed with every return, etc.
